BEAUTY AND ART: A LETHAL COMBO
9:55 PM"She was an artist and her life was her canvas."
It has been said that everyone has talent. What's rare is the courage to follow it to the dark places where it leads. I have always been a big fan of people who express themselves through art. I think they're in this level of deep thinking that no other person could understand but them. What amazes me more is when they come out and bring their ideas to life. I believe that's what makes these people fearless and unique -- to be able to share their God-given talents and a part of their world to others. So for today's article, I feel so lucky and grateful to be given the chance to do a short interview on two of my favorite female artists from the city. Read along as they each share their own sentiments on their passion for art and fashion. And here I am, giggling like a fangirl! Hahaha. Enjoy!

Who's that asian beauty with a pretty smile, a canvas bag on her arm and always looks gorgeous in anything she wears? That's Jamie. She's currently staying in Manila because of her job but she is one true-blooded Kagay-anon. I feel so grateful to have her as part of this article because she's really one of the women I admire. Maybe it's because of the way she lives her life to the fullest, or maybe because of how she puts her emotions and thoughts on paper because that's who she is. And from our exchange of e-mails, I've learned that a photo is definitely more than the sum of its parts. Behind the beautiful face, the talent or the clothes, there's just definitely more to this girl than just being a social butterfly and a fashionista.

"There is nothing more beautiful than seeing a person being themselves.
Imagine going through your day being unapologetically you." -Steve Maraboli

Jamie: "The universe gave me the opportunity to partner with Travel Finds to have art bags, my paintings out there and it's been such a beautiful ride so far. I am utterly blessed."
Jamie: "Create and be passionate because it's what your heart says and not because it's for anyone else or it's for the sake of just doing it."
I was amazed at this lady's doodles and paintings. I seriously wished I could draw like her too. Art has always been part of her system. Drawing and painting have always been her favorite pastime. And because of this, she's currently selling her artworks which are printed on canvas bags. Such talent! I've always wondered where she got that passion from so I couldn't help but ask her. And here's what she said:
"Ever since I knew how to hold a pencil, I would stay on the floor scribbling/doodling for hours. I was lucky enough to have had a grandmother who knew I had it in me and encouraged it. She sent us to summer art classes and ever since then, I've never stopped creating. It fulfills me, it makes me forget about everything else. It truly is my passion."
More up-close photos of her art:
Yes, there are more! But I wouldn't want to spoil you guys. You can check out more of these pretty masterpieces by clicking on the said links above. Those canvas bags definitely make any girl's outfit more chic. You can check more of them also on her Instagram account by clicking this link: @_livebythesunl0vebythem0on
"My first love was the theater and I wasn't encouraged to pursue that but I found my way to still perform by hosting events. I never gave up. As for my passion for painting, I have never stopped drawing/doodling and painting every time I have the chance to... despite my busy schedule at work. And one day, it all just worked out... because I did all those for me and no one else."
One thing I've learned from our conversation is to never give up. According to her own personal experiences, things will eventually just fall into place when you do that. And that's something to always keep in mind especially for aspiring artists out there. And she's not just talking about art here though, it's actually a lesson that you can really make use of in life. There's just so much soul in her art. I believe that's what gives it more meaning more than anything else.
THE FASHION DIARIES
Another thing about Jamie is that she is a trendsetter herself. She's like this barbie doll who looks good in anything she wears. Whether it's a pair of boots or a maxi skirt, she definitely knows how to carry herself in an exquisite manner. Here's a mini compilation of my favorite OOTDs of her.
(P.S. I had a hard time in picking everything out 'cause I love all her photos. Grrr!)
Obviously a fashion icon herself!
Rocking the skater skirts and dresses plus even a jumper!
HER STYLE: "I never follow trends and I find it difficult to describe my style as mine doesn't really follow a pattern. I'd say I base it on my mood for the day and I always go for comfort and a bit of my own style infused into the outfit. A big top, a skirt, leggings. That's my default outfit."
WHERE SHE SHOPS: "I love Mango, Cotton On, Zara, Bershka, and sometimes for quick event costumes Forever21. I also shop at bazaars and stalls just about anywhere. Brands do not matter to me at all. For accessories, I use to shop online a lot but I've just realized they never last long with me as I need to do a better job of taking care of them so I've stopped. Lol. Forever21 accessories are nice and reasonable."
HER FASHION ICON/S: "Audrey Hepburn will forever be my icon in all aspects. Fashionable, graceful, and beautiful. That's how I would describe her style. For a more modern list, I also love SARAH JESSICA PARKER, Jennifer Aniston, Blake Lively, Victoria Bekham, and Kate Moss."
Your modern gypsy girl
Jamie's best fashion advice was to be yourself. Having simply said that, she is definitely one of my fashionista picks for this week. When you are confident in your own skin, you could never go wrong with fashion.
This girl has so much to offer the world and I'm pretty sure she's gonna change it with her undying passion for art. I know she's gonna inspire more girls like me and encourage them even more to pursue the things they love doing. Beauty and Art is such a lethal combination. And Jamie Fournier truly possesses that!
This has been truly a wonderful experience for me to learn such lessons from other people's stories. Keep posted on my next post about another woman who is also one of my inspirations for this blog! And I think you definitely know who she is. Bye for now! XOXO
