CITY GIRL QUIRKS

8:34 PM

The City of Golden Friendship has certainly evolved so fast in many ways. Lots of food joints, coffee shops, and drinking spots are opening everywhere! Well, it's about time Cagayan de Oro showcases the creative ideas, talents, and passion of the city's many entrepreneurs.

It has always been a guilty pleasure of mine to explore new places here in the city. I feel like I'm on a mini adventure. I know it's just in the city but you never know what you might just find. I always have a love for customized places. It has always been a guilty pleasure of mine to visit shops that are decorated in a way where just by seeing it, it speaks for itself. So for this blog post, I decided to share some of my favorite newest spots here in the city which you should most definitely visit!

#1: THE OLD BLUE BURGERS
Location: Don A. Velez corner J. Gaerlan St.

Smokin' hot burgers indeed! Most of the time, I hang out with my friends and boyfriend here at Bowties & Butter after Ababu time. It's a good place to chill and have a good time with your barkada, simply like a good day in the outdoors. Since the stall is located just beside Bowties & Butter, you could spend your time gazing upon the oh-so-cute details of the place. And while you're waiting for your order, the place has got really awesome tracks to keep you entertained.

Of course, we also love to show our support for our good ol' friend, Jeremy "Jeho" Motoomull, for making all this happen. Cheers to your success, Jo!
No bias at all though, the burgers are definitely worth a second try, a third try, a...

THE OLD BLUE CLASSIC

THE PHILLY CHEESE STEAK

Now would you look at that! Ain't it mouth-watering? Both are definitely delicious! I prefer the Philly Cheese Steak more though because everything in it just goes perfectly together. And oh, did I mention that both come with fries? YES, FRIES. That combo though.

But then again, to see is to believe, or in this case, to eat it for yourself is to believe. Even if you're craving for dessert right after, that wouldn't be a problem since Bowties & Butter has got the yummiest funnel cakes and other sweets to satisfy your cravings. The stall opens at 5pm so ready your tummies, you're in for a treat!

#2: SWEET HOUSE
Location: JR Borja - Tiano St. (fronting Maybank)

It's unlikely to not notice the beauty of this dessert spot with all the pretty pictures that has been uploaded on social media before it officially opened. I noticed how Kagay-anons, especially the teens, are drawn to places like this! Just by looking at the pastel colors and the delicious-looking cupcakes that the shop offers makes it all the more inviting.

Hurray! The wanderlust finally arrives.

When I got in, I found out that the place was actually divided into three parts. It was a dessert shop, a store that sells your baking needs and a baking school in one house. How awesome is that? The cafe was almost full when we got inside. This tells me that a lot of people are really hooked by the place. I mean, who wouldn't be?

Since the whole setting was so nice, the trying-hard-to-be-artsy in me had to take over. While waiting for our friends, my friend Jm and I spent the afternoon chit-chatting with warm tea for me and double choco milkshake for him. For the Instagram shutterbugs out there, the site is absolutely Instagram-worthy! Now don't forget to #sweethousecdo y'all!

Ops! Photo-op moment muna. Wag na kokontra!

I would not want to spoil you about every detail of the place. The owner was also very friendly that she even gave us free brownies and kindly told me a bit about the place. I love visiting new places where the people are also very warm. They're one of the reasons why customers would love to come back and visit again.

Don't forget to check this sweet place out!

#3: HOG IT OUT
Location: Rotunda (old driving range/at the back of Sportszone)

One of the many new things that's been going on in CDO right now is the CDO Bazaar and Night Cafe at the Rotunda. It's just like the old night cafe style before but it's more organized this time. Lots of sugba-sugba food around here too! This is Pinoy style taken into a whole new level. So if you're the type who's not maarte, who's up for food that you don't usually see in restaurants, then you should definitely eat here!

Hog it out serves food at very affordable prices. If you're one thrifty eater and an adventurous one at the same time, then this should be on your list of places to try out. Their most popular food on the menu is the Tuslob Buwa. It's something new to the ears, right? That's because it actually originated from Cebu daw kasi. It's actually a mixture of pig brain, shrimp, oil, onions and other assorted flavorings.

Nikkai (my dear Twinnie) and I were so up for the Tuslob Buwa experience. When it comes to food, oh we're up for it. Hahaha! The awesome thing about this is that you get to make your own. Hog It Out provides you with the Tuslob Buwa set as you can see in the photo above. They assist you in cooking it which makes it one good bonding experience for you and your friends.

"Wow Twinnie, pwede na!"

The thrill of trying something new is always my way of unwinding. You get to leave your worries behind and just focus on the thought of being able to do something out of your comfort zone. I haven't been always a fan of street food since I know too much of it isn't good for you but the experience here is worth a try. It's the first store in CDO that serves this kind of delicacy.

Opening Time: 7pm

After mixing everything up together, it's time to bring out the Puso (cooked rice wrapped in coconut leaves). Then, you just dip and eat! Or as what they all say, TUSLOB NA! Another check on eating exotic food in my bucketlist. Of course, it's also great pulutan for booze! Shoutout to my Corpus Christi High School buddies who run the business! Proud of you, guys! One thing's for sure is that I don't endorse products or stuff that I myself don't believe in, so yeah.

Now come on over, invite your barkada and hog it out!

So, those are just a few of the latest sites to visit in the city. I'll probably be posting more soon, so just keep posted. Hihi!
