SIRAO FLOWER FARM, CEBU

8:19 AM

Say hello to the "Little Amsterdam" of Cebu!

What a way to spend our afternoon here in Cebu with these beautiful Sirao flowers! The journey to this place was, I must say, definitely one for the books. The road to these flower fields was long and crazy but believe me when I tell you that difficult roads often lead you to wonderful destinations. Read on to know more about one of the many adventures we had during our 4-day stay in the Queen City of the South.

This place may not be new anymore to you as numerous photos of these flames of flowers hit social media for quite a time now. But as always, my curiosity will always haunt me. My eagerness to visit the place has consumed me and thankfully, my travel buddies were so game that we traveled to this place via motorcycle or as what it is popularly called in our country, the habal-habal.

HOW TO GET THERE

Being the adventurous souls that we are, we've decided to ditch the car and went for the habal-habal. (Yes na!) And also, there are some cars that can't make it to the top sometimes because it gets too slippery when it rains. This is one of the reasons why we opted for the motorcycle ride nalang.

So the destination is located at Barangay Sirao (duh) uphill at Busay. From JY Square Mall, it's at least 17km away. In my experience, it took us 30-45 minutes max to get there. But just a little tip, you guys, some habal-habal drivers can be very conniving, so you have to be careful. I've read from other blogs that Php200 is already good for a round trip already. You can just add extra if you want to. You have to be really clear about your agreement because some of them have this tendency to fool you. In our case, what we agreed on was Php250 per head. (That's like a lot na!) When we got back downtown from our trip, one of the drivers acted like we didn't clearly agree earlier, they charged us with Php500. Like seriously?! And it was so obvious that he purposely took advantage of the fact that we weren't from Cebu.

We were fuming with anger inside but we decided to let it go nalang so we won't ruin the day and just charge everything to experience. Oh well. The whole experience was worth it anyway. So, it's best to be extra careful. Adventure pa more! (Yep, it was that crazy.)

Moving on, just hold on tight and enjoy the ride.
(Dapat gyud i-enjoy. We paid P500/head for this shiz. Hashtag bitter. Joke!)

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TRIP

After that not-so-comfortable yet crazy ride, we were greeted with the sight of these floating umbrellas. You have to pay an entrance fee of Php50 before you get to the upper part where the flowers are. I think the rate is fine since the place really is Instagram-worthy! Hahaha!

Oh ayan na... BLAGGIR DZAI!
Nice background and voila, instant #relationshipgoals shots!!! Di pa ni pre-nup, please guys! Haha!
Nothing beats traveling with these crazy girls! Chubby, we missed you!

I'm so happy this guy matches my crazy quirks!

Of course, to fully enjoy this trip, it's nice to have some good company too. Piepie, Krista and Ton were the best! Shoutout to the squad -- Chubby, Ian and Blue, next time, okay? Hihi. Since there weren't so many things to do there but to take photos or enjoy the beautiful scenery, it's so much better to bring your friends with you!

Though at the end the trip didn't go as expected, we all had a good time and we even stopped by at Temple of Leah. (I will be blogging about that soon!) The trip was still worth it. A fun one with these crazies and a valuable lesson I won't forget whenever I visit remote areas like this!
