FOODGASM FILES

"Eat whatever you want, and if anyone tries to lecture you about your weight, eat them too."

Before I begin, let me just take this opportunity to thank all the readers of this blog. I got really great feedback about my previous blog articles and it has been an amazing feeling! I got even more inspired knowing that what I write can be beneficial to others too. So, here's another food post for you guys! Enjoy!

My life has always been a constant battle between my love for food and not wanting to get fat. I do exercise when I can and control myself about not eating too much, but there are just days where all you want is to just eat and eat and eat. Ugh! I just have to accept the fact that I'll always love food like a Panda loves bamboo.

So anyway, I'd like to share my list of my favorite comfort food that you might want to try. It is COMFORT FOOD. You just eat what you want to eat until it relieves you or until it makes you feel better! As for me, there are days where my comfort food ranges from I-don't-care-if-I-gain-weight-right-now to I'll-eat-my-favorite-food-but-I'll-try-to-pick-ones-with-lesser-calories. So, if you love eating around the city or what I would refer to as a "foodie", then you may already have an idea about this list. But for those who are reading this and haven't tried them yet, well, I hope you'll like it and try them for yourself!

Don't judge me! I'm a self-confessed rice person. It basically means that I tend to eat more rice than the food you pair with it. And you know what they say, too much rice can really make you gain weight. Since rice already has that carb factor, I'm pairing it with beef because it's healthy. Of course, I did research on that! Here's a quick link about opting for beef as a healthy choice: http://www.rd.com/slideshows/3-tips-to-eating-beef-and-staying-healthy/

Back to the food, La Taco uses fresh vegetables and ingredients in preparing their food. I love how the beef tastes and of course, the yummy garlic sauce spread all over it. You could drop by their stall at the canteen inside Xavier University from Mondays-Saturdays. What could be better to have something healthy and at the same time very affordable?

Location: Xavier University Canteen (Magis Building), Corrales Avenue, CDOC

I have to admit that I have been currently a beef lover already. I guess it's because it doesn't make you feel that heavy as compared to when you eat pork. I love my Shawarma fix with lots of garlic and tomatoes on it. What's good about eating at this place too is that you can choose whether to pair it with rice or pita bread. One plate of this only for the price of 59 pesos! If you're the adventurous eater, try their Shawarma and maybe you'll be coming back for it already. Speaking of which, they're having their Anniversary Promo from October 1-4, 2014! Don't forget to visit!

3. CHINGKEETEA'S TIRAMISU MILKTEA

But of course, tea should never be out of my list, especially milktea. Wintermelon Milktea was my first love and until now, I still love it. But I also figured out a new love for this Tiramisu drink which tastes a bit like coffee, milk and tea! It's just perfect. I love mine paired with coffee jelly. I like eating all those jellies though and slurping it out of my drink, I'm weird like that. For loyal Chingkeetea lovers out there, you know what it is! Our love for this place shall never cease.

Well, the bad news about the -ber months is that there are days where it still gets pretty hot. The good news though is that Icequillos is here to serve you with ice cream and barquillos merged into one! Whenever we have the time, me and Ton stop by here. I love the fact that the owners are so friendly and their place is also very cute. More importantly, the food will definitely comfort you. I was all smiles when I took this photo. See those coco crunchies and marshamallows? Hihi!

Location: Tomas Saco Street, Macasandig, CDOC (across Corpus Christi Grade School)

Feel like going Italian for the day? Pop Rock Bakeshop & Cafe is definitely one of my choices for that. I adore how they bake their lasagna -- served hot and just the right amount of everything. The serving is not too much and not too little for one person. There are actually lots of food preferences when you get to visit there, but this one totally won me over!

Location: Jr. Borja Street, CDOC

6. GOOD FELLAS PIZZA'S BIG JOE

Everyone loves some pizza goodness after a long day at work or a tough day at school. Beer-battered goodness all there at Good Fellas Pizza! The Big Joe would definitely be my pick since pepperoni and cheese complete me! I swear I could gobble this up all by myself. Nevertheless, I love eating at places with good music and good company, so bring your barkada when you eat here!

Location: Pabayo-Chaves Street, CDOC (2nd Floor of Sweet Leaf)

7. MOCHIKO'S OREO CHEESECAKE

Would you just look at that filling over there? It can be a bit pricey but it's worth it! If you haven't tried it yet, it's like cold siopao with oreo ice cream inside it! Doesn't that sound just too right? Whenever I feel kinda down, my boyfriend loves to take me to sweet shops, like this one over here. More calories for you since they're sweets but who cares? You deserve a treat and a break from all the stress in life! Now, don't feel guilty and eat one!

Location: Centrio Mall, CM Recto Avenue corner Corrales Street, CDOC

I'm ending this blog with dessert, of course! This is just the first part of my comfort food list. I'll be making the Part 2 next week! Stay tuned for more foodie adventures! I hope you'll love all the food I've posted. Eat in moderation, of course!  Thanks for reading! XOXO
