SOHOTON COVE, SURIGAO DEL NORTE

6:27 PM

"The earth has its music for those who will listen."
I would love to believe that a BEACH is spelled as b-e-a-c-h for a reason. It's the (B)est (E)scape (A)nyone (C)ould (H)ave 😎 Don't you think so? We are so blessed that the Philippines is one of those countries that are abundant in natural resources and jaw-dropping sights. Surigao is definitely one of those places in the country where a person can be truly one with nature. I'm pretty sure they didn't call this place the "City of Island Adventures" for nothing.

It is my first time to visit Surigao Del Norte and I'm so glad I came there with my boyfriend's cousins who live there which is a relief actually since they know the place so much better. You need not worry about going there without knowing the place so much. I've noticed they post lots of travel signs in Surigao so I say it's a tourist-friendly city. The 8-hour drive from Cagayan de Oro City to Surigao City could be exhausting but NOT with good company giving you laughs the whole time.

Location: Bucas Grande, Sohoton Islands
GETTING THERE

Make sure you wake up early for this! You head to Hayanggabon Port where a boat will take you to Bucas Grande Island. Our adventure starts at Bucas Grande where different tour packages will be offered to you by Bucas Grande Island Travel and Tours when you arrive. A tour guide for every group will accompany you the whole time. They also offer masks and snorkeling gears for rent so don't worry about that.

We got so excited when we rode on these little boats. The water seems very tempting already! As we toured the first part of the island, I was stunned. That was just only one part, how much wonderful could this place get? And take note, there are still so many unexplored areas, says the tour guide. Whoa!

The island captivated me because of how tranquil it is. For a moment there, everything is just so peaceful -- no loud music and no smell of polluted air, just you and the waves.

WHERE TO GO

These are just some of the must-see places in Sohoton. Prepare yourself for adrenaline rush jumps, mysterious caves and more breathtaking sights!

Hagukan Cave
The boat stops at the Hagukan Cave first where a tiny passage greets us. This is not your ordinary cave. You have to swim underwater to get through it. This usually happens when it's high tide and the only IN is to go UNDER. What amazed me the most is the water as it sparkles in luminescence when you create a splash. No kidding!

A 15-minute trekking before getting to the cave! Great exercise, squad! 😅

Crystal Cave
This eerie cave will give you the chills! Of course, the guide will be there to tour you around. You will see that this cave is draped by crystal formations. Yup, it's all shining, shimmering, splendid! It's a good thing that this area is DENR-protected. More reason for us to be happy because our natural resources are safe from exploitation!

Sweat dripping all over our bodies! INTENSE!!! #squadgoals
The heat was obviously intense in that cave (and probably because of that squad dance in that video we randomly did), so we were so glad to be out and see the sun again! Now, who's up for a greater challenge?

Sometimes, all it takes is a little PUSH. Pun intended.
Don't think, just jump.
When you come to this part of the tour, some of you are gonna contemplate on whether to jump or not. (Yup, people like me do that!) It's not mandatory of course but hey, do it for the thrill of it, the memories and just for the freakin' sake of experience! It honestly took me a while. So with the help of my co-jumper and the pressure of his cousins, I said, why the hell not? GERONIMO!!! Hahaha!

💗

A big THANK YOU to the Bollozos and Vender family for letting us have a memorable stay!

These are not even half of things you could do in Surigao! This is gonna be an awesome time for you and your family or squad this summer. Don't forget to share how yours went and what your favorite parts of the tour were. I cannot wait to know what more awaits us the next time we visit here.

Hmmm. Next stop... Where to? 👯
