HOW TO STYLE THE ONE-PIECE SWIMSUIT

12:58 AM

"One-pieces feel so much more modern and sexy and draws the eye to the woman's shape instead of how much of skin is being shown."
Cue in Nick Jonas and Nicki Minaj's song... BUM BIDI BUM BUM BUM BUM, BUM BIDI BUM BUM. You give me bad bad love but I love it, baby 💫 So just because I wanted a summer-y article before this month ends and because my camera is filled with beach trips, I've decided to write about one. What's this year's hottest swimwear piece? The one-piece, of course. One-pieces are a thing now.

Like what always happens, trends do come and go. And they keep coming back! We've seen this suit being flaunted by our favorite It girls nowadays. On top of that list, we have Gigi and Bella Hadid, the Kardashians, Selena Gomez, Alexandra Daddario and the likes. To add, we've also seen that being worn by local personalities like Sarah Lahbati, Anne Curtis, Janine Gutierrez, Gabbi Garcia, Martine Cajucom, KC Del Rosario, and the list goes on. They're out to dominate!

What I adore about this swimwear is that it's a flattering, classic, and a modest piece. I mean, hello, for girls who aren't comfortable showing off too much skin (or their tummies, for example), we should celebrate cause now we have this godsend! For my part, my body is obviously NOT beach-ready. Haha! I mean, I love to wear swimsuits but I'm not always comfy with bikinis.
Thank God for one-pieces!

When you're done taking photos of your flipflops, your feet in the sand, the glorious sunset and the breathtaking beach, let's go to the #beachselfies 😎 Just one good photo could be enough but how do you even take one? You just gotta werk it, girl! Well, I do try to "angle". If you think it's easy, it's SO NOT! Please don't judge me. Hahaha! It takes a good amount of confidence, several beach shot-inspos, a good photographer (who knows your good angles, of course!), and the right swimsuit.

One-Piece: M Shoppe (Queen Maria)
STYLE TIP #1: PICK YOUR SWIMWEAR (WISELY)
No matter how simple a one-piece may be, there are a lot of different styles to choose from. There are scoop-backs, halters, printed or patched. No wonder it's the most coveted thing nowadays. For my first choice, I'd go for a color that's not too flashy. Personally, I prefer the darker ones because they make you appear slimmerI also love pastels but my first choice would be black cause it never seems to go out of style. Make sure to check the quality of the item so you won't get those "boohoo" moments at the beach. Before buying one, ask yourself: "Can I move well in it?" "Would it expose my "knockers" or "bajingo" too much?" and most importantly,
"Do I look and feel comfortable in it?"

STYLE TIP #2: ARM YOURSELF WITH A COVER-UP
You never know what might come up, so better safe than sorry. I'm all for confidence but you have to protect yourself too. There are situations when you don't feel like walking around in your swimsuit all day, especially when there's too many people (this makes me conscious!) or when the heat is too much. Bring a pair of shorts, a light knit sweater, shaul/scarf or a beach kimono with you, just in case.

STYLE TIP #3: ACCESSORIZE!
Add some art to your beach attire with the use of round hats or turbans, a pair of sunnies, and statement bags! Put it all together and voila, you got that Katy Perry summer vibe going on!

STYLE TIP #4: BRAID AND BUTT-ER
(Oh diba, witty?!) So yeah, the quickest way to fix a bad hair day? BRAID THAT MANE, SISTER! The Jenner-ation seems to be rocking this lately. Who knew braids could look even cooler at the tides? Flaunt those bums with this hairstyle. Now just play me any reggae song and I'm all up for some beach vibes!

STYLE TIP #5: WEAR PROTECTION
The rays of the sun could become so harmful for your skin and your eyes, so don't forget to apply sunblock and wear your sunnies before facing Mr. Sun head on. A good waterproof sling bag could also be useful where you can put your phones in. Lastly, bring at least one lippie with you (I love mine from Happy Skin!). A lot of memories are made at the beach, so swipe on a little color on your lips because for sure, there's gonna be bazillion photo-ops!

STYLE TIP #6: GET YOUR DOSE OF INSPIRATION
Now here's the fun part! I know all of us have our very own style icons and we have lots of screenshots of them on our phones (guilty as charged here). They're actually very useful in getting that perfect #beachselfie. We can also get some pose-piration from our favorite bloggers too! Mine would include the Enciso sisters, Kryz Uy and Camille Co who have been feeding us with very insta-worthy photos. You can even check out Pinterest or We Heart It for more ideas. Whether it's sitting on the sand, looking at the sunset, or leaning against a palm tree, just WERKKKKK it sister!!!

STYLE TIP #7: CLICK AWAY!
Finally, do your thing. No one's stopping you! You can always be original and direct your own photo. Stay happy as a clam and remember to have fun with your family or besties for this one!

What's even better about the one-piece is that you can use it even when you're not in the beach. You can pair it with a skirt, denim shorts or pants. It works like a bodysuit too!

💗

Haven't gone to the beach this summer yet? There's still time for you. Conquer the beach in style. It doesn't matter what size you are to wear a one-piece.
Confidence is key. (Kaya nga confidence level = Kanye West 😅)
Enjoy the scenery. Be mesmerized with the colors of the sunset.
Fall in love with the ocean breeze.
SEA you around!

  1. My husband and i ended up being now thankful Ervin managed to conclude his researching because of the precious recommendations he made from your web pages. It's not at all simplistic just to choose to be handing out information and facts which often many others may have been making money from. So we already know we need the website owner to appreciate for that. The type of explanations you have made, the simple web site menu, the relationships your site help engender - it's got many spectacular, and it's really helping our son in addition to our family consider that the article is amusing, which is certainly incredibly mandatory. Thanks for all the pieces!
