New cafe alert, new cafe alert! I repeat. New cafe alert at the Xavier Square (beside Chingkeetea Uptown), Mastersons Avenue of Cagayan de Oro City. I just love coffeeshops and just about any place that allows you to chill, do your work or have catch up sessions with your friends. Good news for people living uptown or anyone who would want to avoid cafes that are usually full downtown (and the sweet tooth), this place is for you.

One of the many drinks I've tried from their menu is the sparkling water. It's a good alternative for sugary soft drinks. It's refreshing and it is water-based which is just what I needed during this hot day.
M.O.B. actually stands for Mother of Brownies which is owned by Mr. Sai and Mrs. Shall Macabalang. Sai, who happens to be a friend and a colleague in law school, decided to start this venture when his wife's homemade desserts were selling hot like pancakes. They've agreed to open a cafe instead where people could just buy it from there and even better, they could chill inside and enjoy the food. It's also a place where people could just catch up after a busy day (good thing it closes at 12 in the evening!).
Aside from cold, hot and blended beverages, they also serve pasta! (Yup, a certified pasta girl here!) You can choose from carbonara, spaghetti or pesto for a very affordable price of Php 99. Meals are also available at prices no more than Php 100. It's very budget-friendly for a place uptown.
The staff here is also very accommodating and that's a big thumbs up for me. They love recommending their best-sellers and they're a happy bunch -- enough to keep those bad vibes away.

So if you're looking for a good place to study also, I would definitely recommend this place. They even have a study area (complete with adequate lighting and a good table). Now all you need is coffee (and maybe some sweets there, too!). Leave some love by liking M.O.B. Cafe on Facebook!
